Another December, another foot surgery

Toes 2 and 3 on my right foot were having some metatarsal head issues, so those were completely removed on Friday. Only an hour-long surgery, so done under local this time - I was sedated, but awake enough to ask, "You won't let me watch, but should I be feeling that?" when they started cutting. They juiced me up right away. I enjoyed hearing what little discussion there was, and the saws always sound weird. I'm on crutches for a couple weeks, pins and stitches come out in two weeks, but should be walking in my boot after that. Still haven't needed the pain meds (only filled one prescription out of three anyway), so that's good. Can't wait to see the x-rays.

My right foot

And on May 28th, I had essentially the same surgery done to my right foot. This foot was worse, surgery-wise, and took almost four hours. It's coming up on six weeks and my toes are still swollen and sore. They'll be fine in time, but I was hoping for a pain-free heal like I had with my left foot, which was remarkable easy. Oh well.

My Left Foot

Back in December 2012, I had some surgery done on my left forefoot. A fair amount of bone was removed, including the metatarsal heads for four toes, and my big toe was screwed into place and fused. Being in a cast for seven weeks and on crutches for almost eleven weeks sucked, but healing was quite good and without much swelling or pain.

Facebook work-around

I want to have a place to put my post-surgical photos without grossing out everyone on Facebook. Facebook's GUI is not condusive to discussion, nor does it allow you to add photos to an album without having them clutter up your newsfeed. I understand why they do it, but it sucks for some of us. This will be my work-around.
